Consulting focus: Rationalization measures and cost reduction, technology transfer and technology application

In accordance with the consulting guideline of the Free State of Thuringia, the company receives funding to increase its performance and competitiveness through consulting by independent management consultants - intensive consulting and process support. The results and recommendations for action are recorded in a consultant's report. The funding comes from the European Social Fund (ESF) Plus and from state funds of the Free State of Thuringia.
The goal of the consulting project was to develop theoretical principles as well as concrete recommendations for action on the possible use of machine learning and AI methods for setup time optimization and process stabilization in laser material processing. For this purpose, extensive research work and the examination of the technical feasibility for a metrological, i.e. sensor-based as well as camera-based acquisition of online process and environmental data as well as offline product data of laser machining processes (laser fine welding, laser fine cutting) were carried out. Subsequently, already available machine learning & AI methods have been evaluated with respect to their usability and subsequently new architectural approaches have been identified. Based on an existing machine, a prototypical project plan for implementation was designed and a concrete action plan was created which is currently being implemented step by step.
