Laser meets SiC high-tech ceramics: our contribution to laser fine machining

Technology, Material & Application
Laser process with water jet-guided laser technology that processes silicon carbide (SiC)

Find out more about our latest research results in the laser processing of silicon carbide, a demanding material.

Today, the laser is an indispensable tool in modern production technology. Its precision, speed and non-contact process enable innovative processing options for almost all materials. This also applies to particularly demanding materials such as silicon carbide (SiC) - a high-tech ceramic that impresses with its hardness and resistance. This is precisely where our research into laser processes comes in.

We are proud to present our latest results in “SiC high-tech ceramics - a comparison of laser processes” the magazine PhotonicsViews!

In our technical article, we shed light on how different laser sources - from nanosecond, pico- and femtosecond to waterjet-guided laser technology - have been used to raise the quality standards in structuring, cutting and drilling SiC ceramics to a new level. Our work focuses on improving the surface and cutting quality as well as optimizing the removal rate.

Read the full article and discover how the right laser technology opens up completely new approaches for processing SiC ceramics!
